As a result sebaceous glands become free and the comedone disappears. Application frequency is once daily. Other than acne vulgaris Tretinoin 0.025% is also used in aging skin affected by wrinkles.

Tretinoin cream at strength of 0.05% is popular in use for treating skin conditions like wrinkling and rough facial skin. It has excellent effect in reducing fine wrinkling in aging skin. It helps in generating new cells and removes the dead cell from the skin surface. Once daily dose is effective in eradicating outer layer dead cells and makes the skin smooth. It is also prescribed by the dermatologists as an adjunctive therapy with topical Minoxidil to regrow hair. When used with Minoxidil, it shows greater effect in new hair growth than Minoxidil alone.

Usually this higher strength is suggested when the patient develops tolerability with Tretinoin. Patient needs to be more careful when using this strength for example has to avoid sunlight.

So it is recommended to use skin moisturizer before, after or at the same time of applying this medication. Agents that cause skin dryness like soap, rough skin cleanser have to avoid or have to use carefully during application of Tretinoin cream.

There are some common side effects associated with the application of Tretinoin cream like burning or irritation at the site of application, dry skin, etc. These conditions are usually mild to moderate in nature and declines with time.
